Nathan Thornton, Class of 2012University of Portland – Portland, ORHometown: Boise, ID Major: Nursing “The University of Portland creates its own community on The Bluff. I compete in Cross Country and Track. Even though we are in a large school division for sports (NCAA Division I), we have the feel of a small school. You can go anywhere on campus and find someone to talk to or hang out with. Classes are small, and your professors want you to succeed. Nothing can be better than getting on a first name basis with a professor and being noticed in a class.” |

Adam Hare, Class of 2010Creighton University - Omaha, NEHometown: Overland Park, KS Major: Biology Creighton Students Union President “The opportunities for research and hands-on lab experience are second to none at Creighton. Because of these opportunities, I have been able to acquire the skills with the technology that is needed to land high level internships and was able to get a summer research internship in a neuroscience lab at the University of Kansas Medical Center. The whole Creighton experience has been truly transformative for me, and it changed me as a person, not just as a scholar.” |

Brandon Milonovich, Class of 2011Co-presented with current teachers at a statewide conferenceHometown: Amsterdam, NY Major: Math/Education 7-12 “I do a lot of after school programs with SCRATCH, the computer program language for kids developed at MIT. The great thing is it gives me the opportunity to take what I’ve learned in the classroom and apply it in education settings, and to get kids really engaged and to enjoy themselves learning, just the real way a kid should learn. I’ve had the opportunity to see math being taught in other schools and to really learn how math should be taught. Saint Rose trains educators in the student centered model which is really the way children should learn.” |

Peter HeuerNiagara University, NY“I knew I wanted to attend Niagara as an Education major since I was a sophomore in High School. Niagara's Education program has garnered and maintained the highest respect both nationally and internationally. Academically, there was no questioning my decision. My only fear was that as a commuter, I would miss out on the “college experience”. Niagara, however, has provided me an environment in which I have become both academically and socially involved. Through campus activities and my experience working with NU’s Radio Station and Theatre Department I have begun new experiences that continue to grow every day.” |

National CCAA Recruitment Programs
The National CCAA is proud to currently offer two Catholic college/university consortium programs. These are effective recruitment tours that save you money and scheduling time, and also promote Catholic higher education through group travel. They are also both wonderful professional development opportunites, as you interact with fellow admission reps from other Catholic colleges and universities, as well as with high school counselors.
Puerto Rico Recruitment Program
The Puerto Rico Recruitment Program has proven to be an effective admissions program, and one that is relevant to National CCAA member schools. Over 80% of Puerto Rico's residents are Catholic, with deep respect for the Catholic community and organizations.
The 4th Annual Puerto Rico Recruitment Program will take place Tuesday, October 18 to Thursday, October 20, 2011. The program has been very popular, with 40 member institutions participating and meeting prospective students and their parents at a college fair, as well as visiting area high schools throughout the island. A bilingual (English and Spanish) financial aid presentation during the college fair is provided by Barry University (FL). Before the college fair, a counselor dinner takes place so the college representatives can network with local high school counselors.
We will again hold the counselor dinner, college fair, and cocktail reception at the San Juan Marriott, which is convenient to the San Juan airport. The National CCAA, on behalf of the participating colleges and universities, will be advertising the fair throughout PR through newspaper ads, churches, and connecting with local high school counselors.
We are pleased that the registration fee remains the same as last year. This is a wonderful value, as we have increased the number of high school visits and opportunities to meet students, parents and counselors!

Check out some pictures from the 2010 program and pictures from the 2009 program. Both were very well attended, with many prospective students and their parents from across the island learning about the Catholic schools in attendance, admissions, and financial aid.
Central America Recruitment Program
The 2012 Central America Recruitment Program is scheduled for March 4 to 15, 2012. This year's tour coordinator is Nelson Delgado, Assistant Director of Admission & International Admission Coordinator at St. Mary's University in San Antonio, TX, and the assistant tour coordinator is Stephanie Sweeney, Associate Director of Admissions & International Admissions Coordinator at Emmanuel College in Boston, MA. Wren &Fida International is once again serving as travel partner. This is the 4th year of the tour, which has proven to be a strong and cost-effective method of college recruitment group travel. In 2011, the participating college reps interacted with over 1600 students and networked with many counselors. This is a wonderful value for a tour that includes international admission knowledge, Catholic college/university consortium, and travel professionalism.
The 2012 tour will cover Costa Rica, The Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Panama. The tour group will visit high schools and participate in counselor breakfasts, as well as in evening fairs in Managua (Nicaragua) and Panama City (Panama). Click here for a program description and itinerary.
The registration/application form, personal information form, and $500 tour deposit (check or money order made payable to The National CCAA) is due December 20, 2011. After registering, you will be invoiced by Wren & Fida for the tour balance.
