< back to National CCAA web site National Catholic Colleges Week February 22 - 28, 2009 Purpose: The Association of Catholic Colleges and Universities (ACCU) and the National Catholic College Admission Association (National CCAA) are pleased to present National Catholic Colleges Week. The week's activities highlight the accomplishments of Catholic colleges and celebrate the role of Catholic colleges in society. The major goal of Catholic Colleges Week is to encourage high schools, churches, and families to promote students in the community to consider Catholic higher education. Features of this year's initiatives: The National Catholic Educational Association (NCEA), for the second year, features a Catholic Colleges Week section in Momentum, the association's official journal read by over 90,000 Catholic educators. Press releases have been sent to Catholic newspapers and major dailies. A special web site www.catholiccollegesweek.org has been established. Sunday, February 22, 2008 is Catholic Church Announcement Day. Catholic Churches and dioceses are encouraged to place announcements in their bulletins and offer petitions for Catholic higher education in the Prayers of the Faithful. Catholic high schools are being asked to include announcements encouraging students and parents to consider applying to a Catholic college or university. The Official Catholic College and University Guidebook will be released during the week. The Guidebooks will feature pictures of Loyola University of New Orleans and Xavier University of Louisiana on the cover (two separate covers) in an effort to continue to promote the region.
