National Catholic Colleges Week
Organizational Goals for 2008:
- Integrate Catholic college involvement in central promotion of Catholic higher education.
- Develop a partnership with Catholic secondary schools in promoting Catholic colleges.
- Initiate involving the church at the parish level in promoting Catholic colleges.
- Establish a forum by which the Catholic and higher education media can embrace Catholic higher education.
Objectives:
- College and university enrollment offices will develop activities to reach out to Catholic secondary schools during the week.
- Promote and publicize facts and statistics about Catholic colleges through the media, email, and church announcements.
- Promotion of pulpit announcements, coordinated by the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops about the goodwill, integrity, value, and advancement of Catholic colleges for Sunday, February 17, 2008.
- Catholic secondary schools will make announcements and post information in their schools prior to and during the week.
- The release of the 2008 Official Catholic College and University Guidebook will occur during the week, with a discount for families to purchase.
- National organizations will use the week as a time to host events.
- The chief information officers at Catholic colleges and universities will use this week as an opportunity to highlight the programs that exist on their campuses.
- Partner organizations will use this week as an opportunity to salute Catholic higher education (for example, the National Catholic Educational Association (NCEA) is sponsoring a complete section on Catholic higher education in Momentum, the official journal of the NCEA).
