Featured student: Satyam Khanal
Satyam Khanal came to Providence College from his native Nepal for one reason: to conduct hands-on research. He just didn’t expect that opportunity to arise so soon — in his freshman year. When Seann Mulcahy, an assistant professor in PC’s Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, invited him to join a group of undergrads who are creating molecules that could have antibacterial or cancer-fighting properties, Khanal jumped at the chance. “We’re trying to help make the world better,” he says. In doing so, he and his fellow researchers are becoming better scientists, building their critical thinking skills, and developing a unique perspective balanced by the liberal arts background they receive.
