Texas Recruitment Program

Catholics make up the largest religious group in Texas, and Texas boasts a growing population, especially of young people, making this state an excellent recruitment location for Catholic colleges and universities.

About the Tour

The National CCAA has led recruitment tours to Texas since 2014. Each year, the tour has included visits to local, Catholic high schools; a public college fair; stops in some of the biggest cities in Texas; and more.

Hotel information and travel information will be shared directly with tour participants.

All college representatives participating in the Texas Recruitment Program must attend every National CCAA-sponsored visit during the tour. The program is promoted with the understanding that all participating schools will be at each event.

Cost will cover charter bus transportation throughout the week to three different cities, promotion of the tour to high schools and counselors, and coordination of the high school visits through the week. Transportation to the first city (San Antonio) and from the last city (Dallas/Fort Worth), hotel accommodations, and meals are taken care of individually by each institutional participant.

Tour Team

The tour will be led by Marc Morales, Dean of Undergraduate Admission at St. Mary's University (San Antonio, TX), and Jackie Burkett, Senior Assistant Director at University of San Diego (San Diego, CA).

Registration is open only to National CCAA member institutions. Registration for the 2023 Texas tour was available as part of your 2023-24 National CCAA membership form and is now closed. If you are unsure if your institution has submitted the form or registered to attend the Texas trip, please email Kate Deye.

"The Texas recruitment tour is by far one of my favorite trips during fall travel. I am able to network with high school counselors and meet with students, but also get to know awesome admissions representatives from all over the country. Having the opportunity to co-coordinate this program has been incredible and rewarding. I’m so thankful for my National CCAA family."

– Maira Rodriguez, Marquette University (WI)

"This tour has undoubtedly helped to increase our institutional awareness in a tertiary market. After coordinating and attending the tour for the last five years, we’ve not only seen inquiry and application increases, but more importantly, our relationships with high school counselors and students has also increased, bringing greater recognition of our small New England institution to the students who might find us to be a right fit. We’ve found this trip to be greatly impactful to our overall success and growth in Texas!" "

– Rita Winthrop, Salve Regina University (RI)
