A 2026 National CCAA Transfer Scholarship recipient, Ashley will attend Marymount University. She shared that many factors went into her decision to enroll. "I chose Marymount University because of its supportive learning environment, strong psychology program, and opportunities for hands-on learning."
Ashley previously attended Northern Virginia Community College and at Marymount she will major in Psychology. When asked about her future plans, she shared "my goal is to build a career in UX research, where I can use psychological principles to better understand people’s needs and create more user-centered products and experiences. I believe Marymount will provide the knowledge, mentorship, and collaborative community that will help me develop the research, critical thinking, and communication skills needed to succeed in this field. I’m excited to grow both academically and professionally while making meaningful contributions through my future career."

Why did you choose to attend a Catholic college/university?
I was drawn to Marymount University’s values of service, compassion, integrity, and respect for others. I appreciate being part of a community that encourages both academic excellence and personal growth while inspiring students to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others. I believe these values align with my own and will support me as I pursue a career in UX research.
What aspect of your college/university are you most excited about?
What I’m most excited about is the opportunity to become more independent. Living away from home will allow me to learn how to manage my own responsibilities, make decisions on my own, and grow both personally and academically. I’m also excited to meet new people, get involved on campus, and take the next step toward building the future and career I want.
What advice would you share with students who are considering transferring?
Choose a university that aligns with your goals and where you can see yourself growing. Focus on finding a place where you’ll feel supported academically and personally, and don’t let the fear of starting over hold you back.
What is a fun fact about you?
I’m fluent in both English and Twi, a language spoken in Ghana.
