A 2026 National CCAA Transfer Scholarship recipient, Kayla will attend Holy Family University. She shared that many factors went into her decision to enroll. "I chose Holy Family University because it allows me to pursue my goal of becoming a nurse while continuing to play collegiate soccer. It allows me with the opportunity to grow both academically and athletically, making it a perfect fit for my future."
Kayla previously attended Shippensburg University and at Holy Family, she will pursue a Nursing major. Her future plans are to become a registered nurse and "to make a positive difference in the lives of others."
We asked Kayla:
Why did you choose to attend a Catholic college/university?
I chose a Catholic university because I like the values it is built on and the strong sense of community. I also grew up attending Catholic school, so it allows me to continue growing in my faith.
What aspect of your college/university are you most excited about?
I am excited to be a part of Holy Family University’s nursing program. I look forward to learning from experienced faculty, gaining hands on clinical experience and building friendships with classmates and teammates.
What one tip about the transfer process would you share with future transfer students?
One tip about the transfer process that I would like to share for future transfer students is if you’re seriously considering transferring because your current school isn’t the right fit for your goals, don’t be afraid to take that step. When I went through the process, I was nervous about so many things, especially entering the transfer portal for soccer and worrying about finding the right school. I also had to leave behind close friends I had made at my previous school, which made the decision even harder. However I knew I had to make the best choice for my future career and in the end, it was worth it.
What advice would you share with students who are considering transferring?
Choose the school that is the best fit for your future goals. Although transferring can feel overwhelming and stressful, it opens doors to new opportunities. Research your options, ask questions, and trust your decision.
