The National CCAA at NACAC
Each year, you will find the National CCAA active and prominent at the National Association for College Admission Counselors (NACAC) Conference. Our annual reception is the premier event of the conference, and our membership meeting and breakfast offers our members access to research, enrollment strategies, networking and more.
Catholic Colleges Reception
The National CCAA hosts the National CCAA Catholic Colleges Reception, a memorable event alongside the annual NACAC conference. The casual event brings together nearly 1,000 secondary school and independent counselors and admission representatives from National CCAA member institutions for networking and conversation. Each year boasts remarkable entertainment, food and drinks, and an unforgettable evening.
The 2019 reception will take place on Friday, September 27, 2019 from 7:30-10 p.m. at the Muhammad Ali Center in Louisville, Kentucky. Registration will open at noon ET on August 15, 2019 on our homepage. We typically reach capacity very quickly, so registering early is highly encouraged!
The reception is open to secondary school counselors, independent counselors, transfer counselors from two-year/community colleges and admission staff from National CCAA member institutions.
In the past, receptions have been held at exciting venues, including Salt Lake City's Natural History Museum of Utah, Boston's John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum, Columbus's Franklin Park Conservatory, the San Diego Zoo, Indianapolis's Indiana State Museum, Toronto’s Hockey Hall of Fame, Denver's History Colorado, New Orleans’ House of Blues and the St. Louis Arch.
Please note: A ticket is required for entry, and the reception is ONLY for secondary school counselors, independent counselors, transfer counselors from two-year/community colleges, and admission representatives from National CCAA member institutions. Tickets are non-transferable, and you must wear your NACAC badge and carry your reception ticket with you.
Member colleges and universities: Be a reception sponsor! This is an outstanding way to promote your institution to nearly 1,000 counselors. Click here for this year's sponsor levels and benefits, as well as details on how to sign up to be a sponsor. Sponsors must be National CCAA member institutions.
Membership Meeting and Breakfast
The annual National CCAA membership meeting and breakfast typically takes place on the Thursday morning of the NACAC conference, right before the official start of the conference. In the past, these meetings have involved research presentations demonstrating the value and benefits of Catholic higher education to assist admission professionals with their enrollment strategies. The meetings also serve as an opportunity for members to meet National CCAA board members and other admission colleagues from Catholic colleges and universities across the United States.
At the annual membership meeting in Salt Lake City in September 2018, Kim presented results from Eduventures' 2018 Admitted Survey and discussed the six essential mindsets of students admitted to colleges, their desired outcomes and experiences, and demographic profiles. She shared specific results from students admitted to Catholic colleges and suggested ways that enrollment leaders can use the survey results to recruit students.
In Boston in September 2017, Mark Shriver, president of Save the Children Action Network and son of Sargent Shriver and Eunice Kennedy Shriver, spoke to the membership about how attending a Catholic college shaped his life and work.
Registration information for the 2019 annual membership meeting will be sent to National CCAA members in August, 2019. The breakfast meeting will be held on Thursday, September 26 in Louisville, Kentucky, with the location and start time to be determined.
The National CCAA annually staffs a booth in the Exhibit Hall of the NACAC Conference. Stop by to pick up your reception ticket (advance registration required), say hello to board members, and connect with us. We love meeting with our members and counselors!
