The National CCAA Latin America Recruitment Program
Latin America presents excellent recruitment opportunities for Catholic universities and colleges. Latin America and the Caribbean are home to the majority of the world’s Catholic population; thirty-nine percent of Catholics are found in this region of the world (Pew Forum). Many Latin American students and families recognize the importance of an international educational experience, with many students seeking to improve their English language skills.
About the tour
The National CCAA has led the recruitment tour to Latin America since 2009. The smaller size of the tour, which averages 15 member institutions each year, offers participants the opportunity for meaningful interaction with students, parents and counselors in as many as seven countries in just over two weeks. The tour participants participate in counselor breakfasts and visit carefully selected high schools, meeting with students who are interested in Catholic higher education and in attending college in the U.S.
The 2019 tour will be held from Sunday, February 10 to Wednesday, February 20. In its eleventh year, the tour will include visits to schools in the Dominican Republic, Panama, El Salvador, Honduras, and Guatemala (subject to change).
Harvey Werner, Associate Director of Admissions at Loyola University New Orleans, is serving as this year's tour coordinator, and Ian Sonia, Associate Director of Admissions at Emmanuel College in Boston, is serving as this year's assistant tour coordinator. Wren International, a professional travel company specializing in international travel for educational institutions, is again serving as travel partner.
The 2019 tour costs $9,795 per participant, which is a very cost-effective price considering the value and depth of the tour. The tour cost covers international airfare, hotel accommodations, airport departure taxes, breakfasts, opening and closing dinners, transportation on first class air conditioned buses to visits, hotels, and airports, tour table sign, tour booklet, and a Wren International professional tour manager.
*All college representatives participating in the Latin America Recruitment Program must attend every CCAA-sponsored visit during the tour. The program is promoted with the understanding that all participating schools will be at each event.*
